Robert M. Birndorf

Robert M. Birndorf is corporate and litigation counsel to prominent Illinois businesses and not-for-profit organizations. Mr. Birndorf has 40 years of experience in representing corporate clients in various fields, including health care, manufacturing, information technology, real estate, finance, and vehicle leasing. He has broad experience in employment and personnel law, having prosecuted and defended cases in the state and federal courts, as well as before administrative agencies. He regularly advises organizations in the development and implementation of personnel policies and in strategic decisions relating to a wide range of personnel matters.

Mr. Birndorf also served his profession for 20 years as a member of the Inquiry and Hearing Boards of the Illinois Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission (ARDC) by appointment of the Illinois Supreme Court. He served as a Panel Chairman (Judge) for many years hearing disciplinary cases against attorneys brought by the Administrator of the ARDC. Mr. Birndorf now counsels and represents attorney-respondents to ARDC investigations and complaints, and defends charges of violations of disciplinary rules.

Mr. Birndorf is admitted to practice law in the States of Illinois and California, and represents clients located in both states. He is also a member of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, and has been admitted pro hac vice to handle cases in Minnesota and Indiana as well. Mr. Birndorf’s trial experience includes many non-jury cases and jury cases tried to verdict.

Mr. Birndorf has taught speech communications at Loyola University of Chicago, and has been a speaker and author of materials at seminars for the Chicago Bar Association, Lexis-Nexis and client conferences on such topics as civil litigation practice, legal ethics, and current developments in employment law.

Mr. Birndorf received his bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University, and received his J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law. Mr. Birndorf also provides charitable support to the American Bar Endowment, and has served as a Board member to promote fundraising on behalf of charitable organizations engaged in medical research.
